Be sure to drain your oil before removing the engine from the frame. This is a lot easier to do when the engine is in the frame. When draining the oil, loosen ONLY the 17 mm oil drain bolt in the middle of the engine to do so. Removing the 14mm cam chain tensioner cap that is on a diagonal is incorrect & will only serve to cause you grief. The correct bolt to loosen is the larger of the 2. Reinstall the drain bolt.

Be sure that you clean the excess dirt with a wire brush. There will be an extra charge for engines that are shipped very dirty & where there was no attempt made to clean the dirt. This is time that I have to take to do something that any able bodied person can do.

I understand that I will incur an additional charge for cleaning if there is an excessive amount of caked on grease & dirt on the underside & front sprocket area of the engine, or if it’s apparent that no attempt has been made to wire brush or scrape the debris off.

Regardless of model, please include your intake manifold as explained below.
Notes
Z50: If it's a Z50 engine you're shipping, it's best to simply leave the intake manifold & black plastic insulator bolted to the engine. If you ship the manifold unbolted, but without the black plastic insulator in the box, I will furnish a new one & charge you for it, as I will assume you are in need of the part.
CT70: If it's a CT70 engine you're shipping, you can go ahead & remove the manifold it if you prefer, in order to keep the overall height of the engine to a minimum for shipping purposes. However you must still ship the manifold with your engine.

What to ship with your motor:
Please include your intake manifold (the tube in between the carburetor & the cylinder head) as well as the black plastic insulator. Please read & understand the note below.

I will need to have your intake manifold for cleaning & testing purposes. Also, if you are going to purchase a carburetor upgrade kit I will need the manifold to modify it slightly (appearance will remain the same) to accept the updated carburetor. There is also a black plastic insulator that fits between the manifold & the cylinder head (Z50 ONLY). I will need that as well. The engine will not run without the insulator in place.
If your Z50 engine is together with the manifold on & the black plastic insulator in place, just ship the engine with the manifold & insulator in place.
If your motor has been removed from the bike & there are parts in boxes, please find the manifold & insulator to send.
If you do not send the insulator, I will assume you do not have one. I will furnish you with one & charge you for it when you are informed of the final balance.

*When shipping your manifold try to make it easily accessible by taping it to the bottom of your engine. As shown Here.

What not to ship with your motor:
Please be sure to remove the shift lever & kick start lever. Do not ship them. Shipping them to me will only complicate the return shipping process because I will have to specially pack those unnecessary parts so they do not damage the appearance of the restored engine.
If you have a perfectly good left/ magneto cover that you don't want me to finish, don't send it along as I don't need it for anything.
NEVER ship me your old, nasty carburetor. to “just test out” for you. It’s a waste of your resources & mine. If you have a perfectly good magneto cover that you DON'T want me to re-finish, dont send it along as I dont need it for anything on my end.

What to use to pack & ship your engine:
Use crumpled balls of newspaper or other paper or cardboard type packing. Sheets of packing bubbles are fine too. Please use a cardboard box within another cardboard box to ship your engine, OR purchase a quality Rubbermaid or Tupperware style container that the engine will fit in. You will still need to use a packing material if you use a plastic container as well as put it in a cardboard outer box. Best to wrap the motor in a garbage bag to prevent any oil that leaks out from contaminating the packing material & rendering decreasing it's effectiveness.

What NOT to use to pack & ship your engine:
Do not use packing peanuts to ship your engine. Those things are a nuisance & your motor will go back to you so you can chase them all around YOUR residence.
Do not use wooden boxes, for various reasons.

NOTE: You must significantly bolster the bottom of ANY container you ship in, whether it is a plastic or cardboard container. There are a number of very pointy parts on the bottom of the engine that will quickly poke through a rigid plastic bin or a single layer of cardboard during shipping. If you have removed the intake manifold from your engine you may ship the entire unit upside down in the box to prevent these pointy areas from poking through your box. If your choose to ship your motor upside down you MUST plug the crankcase breather hose in some fashion to prevent any residual oil from leaking out. You can do this by folding the hose and taping it. Don't forget to line the bottom of the container with at least two layers of cardboard or plastic & THEN the packing material of your choice.
